Behind the Measurements

ALTO provides gas, steam and hydro turbine dimensional inspection, alignment, reverse engineering, virtual fit-up and metrology consultancy services worldwide. With teams and equipment positioned in the region, we provide rapid mobilisation across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, the wider Middle East and Africa. Our engineers support turbine manufacturers, power plants and maintenance contractors throughout fabrication, installation, commissioning and overhaul activities.

Laser tracker measurement provides the accuracy, range and real-time feedback required to inspect and align large turbine and generator components. ALTO operates Leica, FARO and API laser tracker systems, allowing our engineers to select the appropriate technology according to the component, measurement range, accuracy requirement and site conditions.

Turbine and Generator Metrology Services

  • Shaft and coupling alignment: Measurement of shaft centre lines, coupling positions, offsets and angular alignment during installation and maintenance.
  • Bearing and journal alignment: Verification of bearing locations, elevations, concentricity and alignment relative to the machine centre line.
  • Casing and diaphragm inspection: Dimensional measurement of split lines, bores, blade paths, diaphragms and internal turbine geometry.
  • Rotor and component inspection: Measurement of rotors, blades, vanes and critical interfaces against drawings, tolerances or nominal CAD models.
  • Real-time installation support: Immediate dimensional feedback to guide mechanical adjustments, component positioning and final alignment.
  • Deformation and movement analysis: Comparison of measurements taken under different assembly, loading or operating conditions.
  • Reverse engineering: High-accuracy 3D scanning and CAD reconstruction of worn, modified, obsolete or undocumented turbine components.
  • Virtual fit-up: Digital comparison of separately measured components to verify compatibility, determine the optimal assembly position and identify potential clashes before installation.
  • Dimensional studies: Analysis of component geometry, tolerances, alignment conditions, deformation and assembly requirements to support engineering decisions and corrective actions.
  • Measurement analysis and reporting: Processing of inspection data using SpatialAnalyzer and PolyWorks, with clear and traceable reports for engineering review.

Accurate dimensional information helps identify deviations before final assembly, supports faster mechanical adjustments and reduces the risk of rework and extended outages. Measurements can be performed during manufacturing, installation or scheduled maintenance according to the specific turbine configuration and project requirements.

ALTO supports the complete turbine measurement workflow, from planning and datum definition to on-site measurement, real-time alignment, reverse engineering, virtual fit-up, dimensional analysis and final reporting.

Turbine and Generator Alignment

ALTO provides turbine and generator alignment services using high-accuracy laser trackers and industrial metrology software. Measurements verify shaft centre lines, bearing positions, coupling alignment, casing geometry, elevation and orientation during installation, maintenance and overhaul activities.

Our engineers support steam, gas and hydroelectric power-generation equipment by providing real-time dimensional data to guide mechanical adjustments and confirm the final alignment condition. Detailed reports provide traceable measurement results for quality control and project documentation.

Turbine Inspection Services

ALTO provides turbine inspection services for gas, steam and hydroelectric power-generation equipment using high-accuracy laser trackers and portable measuring arms. Components are measured and compared with engineering drawings, nominal dimensions or available CAD data.

Inspection activities can include turbine casings, rotors, blades, bearing locations, split lines, bores, coupling features and assembly interfaces. The measurement results identify dimensional deviations, deformation, wear and alignment conditions during installation, maintenance and overhaul projects.

ALTO provides on-site measurement, real-time adjustment support and detailed dimensional reports for power plants across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Africa. Contact us to discuss the turbine type, inspection scope and mobilization requirements.

TP -Transition Piece Flange Inspection

Transition piece flange inspection is essential for confirming the dimensional condition and installation readiness of offshore wind foundations. ALTO uses high-accuracy laser trackers and industrial photogrammetry to perform rapid, traceable measurements during manufacturing, assembly and offshore installation.

Our inspection covers flange flatness, ovality, bolt-circle diameter (BCD), bolt-hole diameter (BHD), bolt-hole orientation, flange tilt and interface geometry. Measurement results are analysed in SpatialAnalyzer and delivered through clear 3D inspection reports.

ALTO can also compare monopile and transition piece flange data to perform virtual matching, identify bolt-hole clashes, calculate angular rotation and predict interface gaps before installation. This reduces offshore modifications, installation delays and project risk.

Services are available across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Africa, Europe and international offshore wind locations.

SuPAR AR Visual Inspection

SuPAR AR visual inspection connects digital CAD data with physical components using augmented reality. The application overlays design geometry directly onto the real part, helping operators identify discrepancies, verify component positioning and follow assembly instructions.

Users can capture photographs, add comments and document quality issues directly during inspection. The collected information can be shared through PDF, Excel and 3D reports, improving traceability and communication between production, quality and engineering teams.

SuPAR supports visual quality control, assembly guidance, maintenance and collaborative inspection activities. ALTO provides application assessment, configuration, implementation and training across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Africa.
